Welcome

The South Jeffco Youth Orchestra (SJYO) is composed of talented young musicians from Jefferson County and surrounding areas. Performers range from elementary school age up to college students. The SJYO provides additional practice and performance opportunities to young musicians already participating in their school music programs. The SJYO Ensembles are aimed primarily at advanced elementary and middle school students looking to further develop their skills. For more experienced musicians, the SJYO Symphony Orchestra gives students a taste of professional performances with both programmed and community concerts. For more information about concerts, auditions, and volunteering, please browse our site or contact us.

The SJYO is conducted by Frank Fyock, a graduate of Yankton College Conservatory of Music in South Dakota. Mr. Fyock has taught music in the Denver Public Schools at Rishel Middle School and West High School. He taught at the Denver School of the Arts as Director of Orchestras for over a decade and currently teaches music in the Denver Public Schools at Valverde Elementary.

The South Jeffco Youth Orchestra is a 501-c-3 tax exempt, collaborative undertaking of young musicians, adult volunteers, music educators, the Jefferson County School District and all young musicians in the greater metropolitan area. The effective date of this status is the date of our inception August 10, 2006.
