Audition Information
SJYO auditions are generally held in April and May be held throughout the year depending on the positions available in the orchestras. Auditions consist of a solo piece, a scale and arpeggio, and sight reading. The solo piece should demonstrate both tone and technique. There is also a $10.00 audition fee payable at time of your scheduled audition.
2008-09 Auditions
If you missed the April/May, 2008 auditions, SJYO will hold pre-season auditions Monday,
August 18 at the SJYO Office 
. Auditions are
being scheduled for the SJYO's three instrumental music groups: The South Jeffco
Youth Symphony Orchestra, the South Jeffco Strings Ensemble, and the South Jeffco Jazz Ensemble.

Audition Requirements
Symphony Orchestra
- Play a piece of your choice (2 to 3 minutes in length)
- Play two octaves of a major scale and arpeggio of your choice
- You will also be asked to do sight-reading
- Percussion: All drum rolls and two rudiments of choice
Strings Ensemble
- Play a short piece of your choice
- Play two octaves of a major scale and arpeggio of your choice
- You will also be asked to do sight-reading
Jazz Ensemble
- Play a short piece of your choice
- Play two octaves of a major scale and arpeggio of your choice
- You will also be asked to do sight-reading
- Percussion: All drum rolls and two rudiments of choice
